Proven Hack: Lightbulb to Boost Productivity at Work

Looking for some much needed motivation for your workday?  What if I told you that all you needed was a new lightbulb?

The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School states that to enhance your productivity and gain some motivation, you’re gonna need a cool new lightbulb instead of that fifth cup of coffee.  To be more specific, you need a blue-enriched light bulb of about 7,000 kelvins.  Once you toss out your old lightbulb for this one, they say that you’ll be productive and motivated as long as the light is on.

Sounds kind of like a dream, right?  All you needed this whole time was a new lightbulb to get all your work done.

Evidently, this scientifically proven hack actually works.  How, though?  Well, basically, the blue, cool light this lightbulb emits signals to your body that it’s time to work and get some stuff done.  Whereas a warm, dark room will signal to your body that it’s time to relax and chill out.  Color temperature is everything regarding productivity.  You know how, when you’re on your phone or laptop at night in bed before you go to sleep, you realize that you actually can’t fall asleep?  Well, that’s because this blue light is in the screens of laptops and phones, as well.

The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School isn’t the only one who figured out this little hack.  A study published in the Journal of Circadian Rhythms discovered this little trick, too.  According to this study, they found that color temperature directly correlated to the productivity of office workers.  And guess what?  Blue spectrum light kept these office workers much more engaged and productive.

I don’t know about you, but I’m gonna head out the door and look for one of these groundbreaking blue lights and say goodbye to countless cups of coffee.
